World Mental Health Day

10 October 2018

10 October 2018 // October 10th is World Mental Health Day and, as every year, IF commemorates this special occasion. This year, the day is focused on young people’s mental health, and it means to highlight the challenges and pressures that children and young people face nowadays, including cyberbullying and body shaming.

Today, IF took part in the event organized by Mental Health Europe at the European Parliament, called “Promoting Positive Mental Health for the Next Generation” and sent a special newsletter to mental health professionals and all our subscribers.

Also, IF revised the Statement on Multidisciplinary Care to explicitly highlight that mental health care should be integrated into the multidisciplinary care system. It is very important to take care of both physical and mental health needs of people with complex disabilities in order to achieve the highest quality of life.

We aim to emphasise the importance of mental health for people living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, and for that reason we are sharing testimonies on our social media channels related to the topic of mental health. You can see these and other testimonies on this Facebook album and on this YouTube playlist.

We also used this opportunity to relaunch our animation on mental health, realised by IF on the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2017. The video is available in both English and Spanish.
