UN policy brief for a disability-inclusive response to COVID-19

10 May 2020

After weeks of experiencing this emergency situation and global health crisis, it has been proved that the human rights of persons with disabilities have been violated around the world: greater attitudinal, environmental and institutional barriers and discrimination, exclusion from accessing health-care services and information, as well as faced serious disruption to their employment, education, and access to social protection and other support services. In an effort to those facts and based in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the UN has released this policy brief, aiming to guide all governments in implementing a COVID-19 response and recovery that is disability-inclusive.

Persons with disabilities have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, and all governments, organisations, DPOs, institutional bodies and health care professionals need to ensure that they are fully included in the COVID-19 response and recovery.
