IMG 549225 September 2017 // Today we have a special birthday to celebrate, the second anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The adoption of the SDGs on the 25th September 2015 was a ground-breaking initiative signed by 193 world leaders at the United Nations. 17 Goals to build a better world for everyone by 2030.

The five scenarios proposed by the European Commission in June 2017 showed that health is not a priority for the following years of the European Union’s work. In response, IF signed a joint letter to President Juncker to call for an enhanced EU action in the field of health that brings the EU closer to its citizens by protecting patients and consumers and improving people’s health.

On this day, we also would like to highlight the importance of mental health for all. This can be achieved by creating, supporting and maintaining an integrated and multidisciplinary healthcare system which also invest in research to improve the well-being of people with rare and complex conditions.

For this reason, IF has contributed to the #Act4SDGs joint campaign by creating greater awareness for SDG 3 and the necessity to continue working for a better Europe for all. We encourage you to also participate in the campaign, “We The People Taking Action for the SDGs – #Act4SDGs”, convened by the UN SDG Action Campaign, the World We Want 2030, the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) and Action for Sustainable Development. It calls for organizations and citizens to act on the SDGs today – a Global Day of Action.

The 17 Global Goals should be the guidelines for the global political agenda, so let’s keep working on the Agenda 2030 and share your support on your social media channels. What do you think still needs to be done to achieve the Global Goals and live in a better world for all? Make your voice heard!
